PURPLE Welcome Meetings: Starting the Year Together

The first week back after the summer break is always an exciting time at our school. This year, we kicked things off with our PURPLE Welcome Meetings, designed to help parents and children feel right at home in their new year groups.

The afternoon was a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with the school community and learn more about the year ahead. We began with engaging activities centered around our PURPLE Values, giving families a chance to explore what these mean for their children’s learning and development and our community.

Alongside this, parents attended a welcome meeting led by their child’s teacher. These sessions were packed with essential information about the coming year, including important dates, key messages, and insights into how we’ll work together to support our children.

It was fantastic to see so many parents and carers joining in, fostering a strong partnership between home and school from the very start. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the day so special!

Let’s make this a PURPLE-tastic year ahead!

Celebrating Black History Month 2024

In October, we were thrilled to invite parents to join us in celebrating Black History Month. This special event was a chance to reflect on and honor the important moments in history, the incredible achievements, and the invaluable contributions that Black people have made to life in the United Kingdom.

This year, our focus was on the inspiring book Black and British by David Olusoga. Each year group delved into a different key moment in time, exploring themes of resilience, creativity, and the enduring impact of Black individuals and communities.

Parents joined their children in activities that brought these stories to life, fostering rich conversations and a shared appreciation for the diversity and strength of our shared history.

Thank you to all the parents who joined us to celebrate and reflect together. Events like these remind us of the power of learning and community in shaping a brighter, more inclusive future.

Here is what our Parents have to say about Parent Engagement Days:

Bonfire Parental Engagement Days: A Celebration of Community, Reflection, and Creativity

In November, we were thrilled to welcome over 300 parents and carers to our Bonfire Parental Engagement Days! The atmosphere was filled with excitement, warmth, and a sense of community as families came together to enjoy a morning or afternoon of fun, reflection, and creativity.

Singing, Dancing, and Bonfire Fun

Parents, children, and staff enjoyed gathering around the bonfire to sing and dance along to classic campfire songs. A huge thank you to Miss Kelly for leading the group with her energetic performance! The crowd was especially delighted by the interactive songs “Captain Jack” and “Joe,” where everyone joined in.

Before the bonfire was lit, families collected fallen sticks and branches to help fuel the fire—creating a true sense of teamwork and tradition. To top off the event, everyone was rewarded for their spirited participation with delicious hot chocolate and biscuits. A special thank you to our kitchen team for providing such tasty treats that kept everyone warm and smiling!
